Making Decisions for Shared Value

Course Overview

The objective of this course is twofold:
(1) To learn the difference and potential conflicts between “creating shared value” and the “pure pursuit of profits” as the primary goal for business, and
(2) To make participants aware of the many and various situations that arise in business that require creative thinkng to tranform the potential trade-offs into the trade-on

Course Structure

First, participants will learn the basic principle of “creating shared value” and the best practice cases such as Nestle and Unilever.

Second, participants will learn to recognize and identify key issues related to CSV, such as the decision-making criteria, business models and organization models. The participants will discuss the CSV models among Japanese companies. Third, participants will try to apply the CSV model to their own instituions and opportunities and challenges.
